Disciple’s Journey: Step 2

Categories: Pastor's Page

Dear First Church,

As Jesus followers, we are not called to be observers of the game but to be participants in it!

Hopefully, by now, you are aware—at least at a minimal level—of what we call “Disciple’s Journey” at First Church. It is how we seek to be intentional
to foster multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ.  There is no secret formula that will make us disciples if we just follow all the right steps in the right sequential order.  BUT, we can seek to be intentional to live in a culture that fosters discipleship the way Jesus intended.  This is what Disciple’s Journey is all about.

While Step 1 of a Disciple’s Journey is a four-week commitment that seeks to connect God’s people both to God and to First Church, Step 2 is about taking the next step beyond connection with God to helping individuals discover God’s call on their life. Specifically, Step 2 involves discovering each person’s gifts and a deeper understanding of the DNA of First Church.  As these elements are better realized, individuals can then better understand how God’s call in their lives can result in multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our next round of a Disciple’s Journey: Step 2 is coming up in just a few weeks.  If you have never taken this step (or have not taken Equipping for Transformation), would you prayerfully consider taking it this year?  It is a six-session commitment that will stretch from October through December. It will occur on the evenings of October 9, October 16, October 30, November 13, November 27, and December 11 — all Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM at the North Campus.  All the sessions are led by Pastor Matt and Pastor Janet. You can register on the Communication Card today.

Living as a disciple of Jesus is not about information… it is about transformation.  If you or someone you know is desiring to grow in discipleship, please take this next step of faith. We believe one of the primary ways God is fostering transformation among us is by raising up multiplying disciples through Disciple’s Journey. If you have never taken Disciple’s Journey: Step Two, we hope to experience it with you!

In Christ,

Pastor Matt
